HILLS has dedicated his artistic practice to working with charcoal. The confessional nature of HILLS' large scale works ties his personal experience to emotional restlessness, and tensions within masculinity - both of which are a fluid force that surge like waves within the psyche of the human experience

The human body remains a consistent motif in HILLS' work. A subject matter that is timeless yet temporary, ever changing and fluid, HILLS believes that the human body demands to be examined.

‘the dance’ depicts the relationship between Commedia and Tragedia.
Two forces forever present and entwined in our lives.
They are forever dancing, shifting their lead, within our psyche, in our relationships, and in the global climate.
About Studio HILLS
HILLS specialised in drawing and printmaking during his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music, University of Melbourne.

Currently HILLS predominately works with charcoal, however, he also has a prolific sculptural and installation practice.

Studio HILLS is dedicated to the art of charcoal, and offers a professional platform for clients to commission bespoke artwork, and for the public to explore the expressive nature of this unique art form.
HILLS' focus is on showcasing the beauty and emotion of the human body through hyper-realistic, life-sized charcoal portraits.​​
